Is Ranch Dressing Keto

Ranch dressing is typically a safe option when trying to stay keto. They tend to be higher in fat than vinegar based dressings but that’s okay when you’re eating a low carb high fat diet. This keto ranch dressing recipe is made with wholesome ingredients so that it can be enjoyed by a variety of diet lifestyles including keto, paleo, dairy free, and even rounds of Whole30.

Why Should You Make Homemade Ranch Dressing

Unfortunately, many store bought dressings are full of junky ingredients. Most list soybean oil or canola oil as the first ingredient which are both very unhealthy. Also, many store bought dressings use artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives to give them a longer shelf life. Clean and organic dressings, while available, are very pricey. Making your own dressings at home is cost effective, easy, and gives you control over what goes into the jar!

What Does This Ranch Dressing Taste Like

This zero carb ranch dressing recipe is herby, tangy, and creamy. There is a bit of tang from the dijon mustard that would typically come from buttermilk in a store bought ranch dressing. And the classic herby flavor comes from the garlic and dill. If you’re a ranch dressing connoisseur such as myself, I think you’re going to love this ranch dressing recipe! If you are not a fan of ranch dressing and like vinaigrette dressings, try this Keto Dijon Vinaigrette recipe.

Can you Have Buttermilk on Keto

Regular ranch dressing is made with buttermilk. Buttermilk is only suitable for keto diet in very small amounts. One cup of buttermilk has 12g of net carbs. The intake of carbs on a keto diet is limited between 20g – 40g of carbs per day. So even though one cup of buttermilk can be suitable on a keto diet most people avoid it because it has high levels of sugar and wouldn’t want to use their carb intake for the day in the form of buttermilk.

Is Mayonnaise Keto Friendly

In this recipe we replace buttermilk by mayonnaise. Mayonnaise is perfect if you are following a keto diet because it usually contains high fat and zero carbohydrates.
